Description

Sun is a Dufour 382 GL (Grand Large) built in 2015 and based at Alimos Marina in Athens: the smallest and simplest yacht in our fleet to sail, and a good choice for a first charter.

At 11.28 metres she has three cabins and two bathrooms for up to seven people, which is right for a family with children or two couples.

Her self-tacking jib is what makes her easy. When you tack, the headsail crosses on its own, with no sheets to release and winch in, so two people can sail her comfortably. The mainsail furls too, and a bow thruster and electric windlass take most of the stress out of mooring in a crowded harbour.

A chartplotter at the helm, an autopilot and a wind instrument cover navigation, a 220 V inverter charges laptops and cameras, and solar panels help the batteries at anchor. Automatic life jackets are aboard. With a draught of 1.83 metres and compact dimensions, she fits the small island harbours where bigger boats struggle for a space.

Experienced sailors will enjoy her as a responsive boat for a small crew; newcomers can add a skipper from the extras.
