Catamaran charter in Athens

Our two Lagoon 400 S2 catamarans, Stefania and Doris, sail from Alimos Marina in Athens. Each has six cabins, ten berths and four bathrooms, with the wide deck and steady ride that make a catamaran the first choice for many families and groups.

Stefania and Doris

Both are Lagoon 400 S2s: about 12 metres long and 7 metres wide, with a draught of about 1.2 metres — shallow enough to anchor closer to the beach than a deep-keeled monohull.

Stefania was built in 2017 and Doris in 2020. Both have air conditioning, a generator and solar panels. Doris adds a water maker, a separate skipper's cabin with its own WC, and a tender with an outboard engine.

Catamaran or monohull?

  • Stability: a catamaran sails almost flat where a monohull heels — easier for children, first-timers and anyone prone to seasickness.
  • Space: the saloon and the cockpit are on one level, and the trampolines at the bow are the favourite place to lie in the sun.
  • Privacy: the cabins are spread across two hulls, away from one another.
  • Shallow draught: anchor in shallower bays, closer to the shore.
  • Sailing feel: a monohull sails closer to the wind and many sailors find it more rewarding to helm — the better choice when the sailing itself is the holiday.
  • Cost: a catamaran costs more per week, and some harbours charge more for its width.

For families and groups

With six cabins and four bathrooms, either catamaran takes a group of up to ten — two families sharing a week, or a group of friends — without anyone sleeping in the saloon.

Children can play on a deck that barely tilts, and the steps down to the water at each stern make swimming easy. If nobody in the group holds a sailing licence, add a skipper: see skippered charter.
